ICE out of LA

After days of large-scale immigration raids throughout the Los Angeles area, numerous people took to the streets of Downtown Los Angeles in a rapid response style protest around the Metropolitan Detention center and Federal Building demanding the release of detainees and the end of immigration raids. Protestors attempted to overtake the 101 freeway but were halted by a massive police response force. Tear gas, flash bangs and rubber bullets were used to disperse the crowd. Several protestors in the crowd ordered autonomous Waymo vehicles to the area and subsequently set them ablaze and vandalized the cars near Union Station. As the day progressed LAPD officers were assaulted with rocks and mixtures of paint and oil and much of the surrounding areas were vandalized or damaged in Downtown Los Angeles, June 9, 2025.
